Wearing the mask of a few classifications, Inbound Marketing is the art of getting found, converting and analyzing for lead generation. Still with all written it remains misunderstood in the realm of marketing. I hope to guide you to better understanding and solutions.

On-page SEO: How well is your article ranking? – The right way to measure your results

While your results will vary depending on what words you use, I have found the best way to get a true scope is by limiting as much as possible. Though this requires a bit of demonstration:

So we will use an example to show the difference

01– First make sure you are logged out of Google (gmail) as it will skew the results in your favor. This need to be done so you get a true result rather than one that is based on your web profile.

Ok, now I will use an example to show the difference:

The article is one called :

Film Review: Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)

Now as we fine tune the search, the object is to take out the special words that might make the search more specific, meaning that the results would be less likely searched. In the 3 examples I’ve taken out specific variables to keep the article as close to a wider search than specific.

As you see the ranking went down in each of the searches from #2, to #6 to #12

The last one is closer to a wider search entry so my ranking for that article would be 12

Film Review: Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) = 2
Film Review Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer = 6
Review Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer = 12 Continue reading On-page SEO: How well is your article ranking? – The right way to measure your results

Yahoo Pipes: Building an Custom RSS Feed to your tastes

Creating a Combined RSS Feed
How to aggregate a Feed?
Combining RSS news feeds into 1 feed using Yahoo Pipes
A quick intro to Yahoo Pipes

RSS feeds are the heart of online news and media these days. Simply enough if you have one, visitors can subscribe and get to all your updates in one shot so that they can bookmark it.  Often you may want to create a feed that combines several sites into your own custom RSS feed collectively.

I often do this so that I can click on 1 bookmark and get the latest news from several sites at once

There have been a few sites that allow you to do this, though the problem is that sometimes they don’t stick around if they are not well established enough. One site I used to use was http://www.rssmix.com/  though there are times when its been down so it hasnt been as reliable as I would like.

So I found Yahoo Pipes, and even though it is nerdy in look and feel it’s actually quite robust and reliable.
That’s ok, because that is what this article is going to help you do…understand the Y pipes! (Click illustration for larger view)

01– go to http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/

02– Join or sign in

03– Real quickly on the tap nav, “My Pipes” is where your created “pipes” WILL RESIDE. To create a new one, you’ll want to click the “CREATE A PIPE”

04– Ok, here is where you scratch your head and go….what the heck is this? It’s ok, As I’m providing a step by step, so that its relatively painless.

CREATING A WORKING YAHOO PIPE: (your custom combined feed)

05– I’ve provided an illustration to help guide you. The example I’m using combines several SEO sites RSS feeds into 1 output Feed. Continue reading Yahoo Pipes: Building an Custom RSS Feed to your tastes

Twitter: Connecting with your target audience – Going Gaga and not looking back

Tweeting your market
Tweet you niche
Twitter for business professionals
Finding your Twitter niche sites

Ok, Welcome again to more Twitter techniques! As a social marketer, you of course want to stay relevant to your field, market or niche. I mean it’s nice to want EVERYONE to follow you, but of course its more useful if your “Tweets” are being seen by those who would more appreciate them. Grandma Jones, may not want to hear about Lady GaGa’s new tour….get it!

So with that seque I’m going to use Gaga as a good example of tweeting to your niche.

I like to use tools of course, because when you have a list of 50 things to do, time is short for Tweet relevance. For the purpose of this study we’ll use a tool I love to use for this purpose.

It’s a neat little site called http://tweepi.com/

So you’ve started a Twitter site called @Gagamadness (or such…insert fake name here)
Your wanting to key in on sites that like Gaga, like music, like trends maybe with similar culture (like Hot topic). So you’ll want to follow a few steps.

01– Log on to your Twitter account first

02– Now go to http://tweepi.com/ and click that top blue link (login (via oauth)
(you might have to start a new account, or maybe not) Continue reading Twitter: Connecting with your target audience – Going Gaga and not looking back

Facebook Replacement for Twiends
Help getting username on Facebook?

If you’ve check out my article here on getting a Facebook Page username in a hour, then you might have also heard the news that Twiends has had to take down their Facebook service. This is unfortunate and has followed into other sites like http://www.twimates.com/. So the pressing question is….. what is the working alternative? I’ve dropped by most on the lists but only found one that seems to work on a smaller scale. It needs more sites on it, so spread the word so that it works on a larger scale. It’s easy to use and does the trick.

The site: http://www.earnlikes1.com/

Oh, and I couldn’t get it to work on IE, so use Firefox. Continue reading FaceBook: Working replacement for Twiends?

Twitter: Free Mass follow | Mass unfollow a day – kick starting your new Twitter page

I thought I might share a technique that I get asked about quite alot. Now I strongly urge you to first check out my article called “45 Top Ways to get Twitter Followers – The definitive guide, just so you have a strong hold on best and worst practices.  There are plenty of software packages that you can purchase for a relatively small fee that will automate alot of this for you. Sometimes though you might be in a crunch to just get a Twitter account started and its info stream flowing nicely, instead of the dreaded “wait till they come” approach.

Why is this necessary?
Basically “you can’t enjoy a party if noone comes”. So you begin to bait and seed your Twitter channel so that at least you have the opportunity to get conversations started.

I found a great site, that you can do just thing for free. It is called http://tweepi.com

Here are the simple steps to get this moving:

01– Sign on to your Twitter account (must be logged in)

02– Go to http://tweepi.com/

03– Click on the gray button “Good old Free Tweepi” – or just login at the top

04– This will instantly try and connect its API to “your” Twitter account
(Click the Blue button “Authorize app”) Continue reading Twitter: Free Mass follow | Mass unfollow a day – kick starting your new Twitter page
